Auschwitz tous

ALL over the world Auschwitz has become a symbol of terror, genocide and the Holocaust. It was establshed in the mid -1940s which is connected with the first transportation of polish political prisoner on the 14 th June 1940. Over the year the camp had expanded on an enormous scale and was composed of three parts: Auschwitz I, Auschwitz II - Birkenau, Auschwitz III - Monowitz and over 40-sub-camps. Initially it was primarily Poles who where imprisoned and killed in the camp. Over time, the Nazis also began to send other groups of prisoners such as Soviet prisoners of war, gypsies and prisoners of  other nationalities. Beginning in 1942 the camp had become the largest of the death camps and place of the mass destruction of the European Jews according to the plan of total extermination of this nation. The majority of the Jewish deportees - men, women and children were sent to death in the gas chambers of Birkenau
immediately after arrival. At the end of the war the Auschwitz administration set about removing the traces of the crimes that they had committed. They destroyed documents , dismantled some buildings, and burned others down or demolished them with expolosives. Prisoners capable of marching were evacuated into the depths of the Third Reich and those who stayed in the camp were liberated by the Red Army  soldiers on the 27 th January 1945. On the July 2, 1947 the camp was transformed into The Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum by an act of the Polish parliament and includes the grounds of two extant parts of the Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II - Birkenau concentration camps. In 1979, the site of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp was on the UNESCO international list of the world heritage sites.
